Long a gathering place for all of New York, but frequented by the elites at the time of this photo, Washington Square Park lays at the foot of Fifth Avenue in the heart of Greenwich Village. Built by famed architect Stanford White, the Tuckahoe marble arch the arch commemorates the centennial of George Washington’s presidency.
