Rowers on the Harlem River, 1895

This is one of my favorite photos considering the men feel so "of the moment" in today's NYC.  The current hipster heritage look connects deeply to this photo of two rowers on the Harlem River.  It's incredible to think about rowing along next to docks filled with three mast schooners that have sailed in from Bombay and Shanghai.  This would be equivalent of training on your road bike on the JFK taxiways with plans coming in from Europe, Asia and the Middle East.  New York City has always been a crossways of commerce, intellect and art whether by ship, rail or 747.
