57th Street Rooftop Ballet, 1925

This is one of the most poetic photos in this collection - especially at the large 30x38 size.  We have that size on the wall in our office and the grace and beauty of these women's movement leaps out of the frame and infuses our workplace with this beauty.  The photo is of famed Vienna-born ballerina Albertina Raschwith with her camera, posing as she rehearses with her ballet troupe atop the Steinway Building on 57th Street.  The newly built Sherry-Netherland Hotel seems to watch over these lithe women - enjoying the performance as the sole member of the audience.
