Bespoke Steeplejack, 1925

A friend of Archivast sourced the material for this frame - it's zinc-wrapped wood moulding made in the USA in the 50s or 60s.  It's a beautiful material that would work well in a home office, library or a modern kitchen. Daring tradesmen known as “steeplejacks” made their living scaling the tops of skyscrapers in need of repairs. Soaring 23 floors above the city, this worker paints a flagpole on a building just south of Times Square. Divided nearly in half by the flagpole, the images intersecting lines of wires and buildings illustrate the seemingly endless grid of Manhattan.
