Gladys O'Donnell Sitting for the New York Times Studio Camera, 1929

Colloquially known as "The Flying Housewife," Gladys was far more accomplished than the nickname bestowed upon her by a PR agency that was worried about the public perception of female aviators. Ultimately, she garnered so much press coverage that she quickly moved out of her husband's shadow to become one of the founding members of the 99’ers.
